Delivering Cost-Effective, Secure Energy: Energy insecurity is currently holding businesses back from domestic investment. This solar farm will provide cost-effective power and greater energy security, reducing GSK’s operating costs.
Securing Local Economic Security: Long-term energy security will enable GSK to better manage its energy costs, helping to secure its long-term future in the area whilst continuing to support the local economy.
Fostering Job Creation: The project will create new, local employment opportunities during the construction phase and the long-term maintenance of the proposed development.
Community Benefit Fund: We will provide a contribution to a local community fund on a yearly basis (for the duration of the project lifespan).
Environmental
Grid Relief & Net Zero: Private wire schemes do not take capacity from the local grid or rely on government subsidies. By removing demand associated with a Large Power User from the grid and generating renewable energy directly on site, this project will deliver considerable carbon savings and help the UK, North Hertfordshire District Council, and Stevenage Borough Council meet their net-zero targets.
Energy Security: The proposal will enhance UK domestic energy resilience by reducing dependence on often costly imported energy.
Biodiversity Net Gain: The site is already well screened by established hedgerows and trees, with comprehensive additional landscaping proposed to further enhance biodiversity on site.
